HiKennen is a custom display typeface created for a collaborative campaign between Heineken 0.0 and the Rijksmuseum. Inspired by the intersection of contemporary branding and classical art, the typeface was designed to unify both identities while celebrating the experience of discovering art with a fresh perspective.

DEVLOPING HIKENNEN

The process of developing HiKennen began with studying the visual languages of both Heineken 0.0 and the Rijksmuseum, identifying ways to merge the energy of a contemporary beverage brand with the elegance of a historic cultural institution. From there, the typeface was built through repeated sketching, refinement, and testing, with each letterform designed to feel distinctive while still functioning as part of a cohesive system. Special attention was given to contrast, curves, serifs, and unexpected details that could make the typeface feel both familiar and fresh. Through this process, HiKennen evolved into a display typeface that balances sophistication, personality, and brand recognition.
HiKennen would be implemented throughout the Rijksmuseum's promotional materials, signage, and exhibition branding, while also serving as the featured typography on a limited-edition Heineken 0.0 can, creating a cohesive visual identity across both cultural and consumer touchpoints.
